Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to felony gun possession in a Manhattan courtroom on Thursday (October 22) temming from a July 2007 arrest following his first headlining concert in New York. The rapper will be sentenced to one year in prison as a part of his plea deal and must also give up his passport. Wayne quietly told the judge yes when asked if he understood the terms of the plea he was making. Asked what type of gun he possessed, Wayne said, "A .40-caliber semi-automatic." Lil Wayne's Battle With His Gun Possession Case Wayne had black jeans, a gray coat, white T-shirt and blue Chucks. He was accompanied by the CEOs of his label, Cash Money Records, Bryan "Baby" Williams and Ronald "Slim" Williams. The hearing began at 10:05 a.m. ET and was over in 20 minutes. About 20 minutes after the hearing ended, Lil Wayne exited the building, covering his head with the hood of his sweatshirt. Photographers and reporters followed as court officials escorted him to his vehicle. In response to many reporters' questions, all Wayne said was, "What's up?" February 2010 and is expected to serve eight to 10 months, assuming good behavior. He must also appear in court in December for a parole update. The incident took place in July 2007, when police pulled over Wayne's tour bus at around 11:30 p.m. on the night of his show at the New York's Beacon Theatre. They arrested the rapper for criminal possession of a weapon and another man on the bus for criminal possession of marijuana. Even before his show that night, Wayne made repeated comments from the stage about being hassled by police and threatened not to perform in New York again.

A Connecticut football player who was an expectant father was stabbed to death early Sunday after an on-campus dance, just hours after helping his team to a homecoming victory.
Jasper Howard, 20, of Miami, and another student were stabbed during a fight after a fire alarm was pulled during a university sanctioned dance at the UConn Student Union just after 12:30 a.m., police said.
Police had not identified a suspect or released the name of the other victim. Connecticut coach Randy Edsall said the team was heartbroken and devastated over the loss of Howard, a junior and the team's starting cornerback who came to the school to get away from the violence on the streets of his hometown. He became the first person in his family to go to college. "I know this," Edsall said, his eyes red and welling with tears, "he loved UConn; he loved his teammates; he loved everything about this." Edsall said Howard's death was especially tragic because he was about to become a father. No additional information about the expectant mother, who Edsall identified as Howard's girlfriend, was provided by police or the university

Five children, between the ages of 13- 15 have been arrested for setting another child on fire. Detectives learned Michael Brewer, 15, had skipped class from Deerfield Middle School Monday and went to the Lime Tree Apartments to visit a friend. At the complex, the five suspects approached Brewer with a jar of…… rubbing alcohol and a lighter. When he tried to walk away, police said, 15-year-old Denver Jarvis splashed him with alcohol and Jesus Mendez, also 15, used a lighter to set him ablaze. Police said Brewer jumped into a nearby pool to extinguish the flames and left his burned clothes on the lawn. Police found the jar, which had held the alcohol, and a lighter nearby.

First their was the unthinkable death of Derrion Albert, and now just a couple weeks later a innocent child is set on fire. What is going on here????

The label had been in the works since 2006, but started gaining momentum last year when Kanye was seen wearing pieces to various red-carpet functions. Images from the purported look book hit the web yesterday, but today the bomb dropped that the line won't be released now or ever. Of the line, Kanye had said, "Just getting the right designs. It's a gift and a curse. You've got all eyes on you, so if you deliver something great, it's gonna get held as, 'Oh, it's supposed to be great.' What is Breast Cancer?

Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts from cells of the breast. A malignant tumor is a group of cancer cells that may invade surrounding tissues or spread (metastasize) to distant areas of the body. The disease occurs almost entirely in women, but men can get it, too. There are different types of breast cancer, with different stages (spread), aggressiveness and genetic makeup. Treatment includes surgery, drugs (hormone therapy and chemotherapy), and radiation.

Worldwide, breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer after lung cancer (10.4% of all cancer incidence, both sexes counted) and the fifth most common cause of cancer death. Breast cancer is about 100 times as frequent among women as among men, but survival rates are equal in both sexes. The first symptom, or subjective sign, of breast cancer is typically a lump that feels different from the surrounding breast tissue.

Risk Factors of Breast Cancer

The primary risk factors that have been identified are sex, age, childbearing, hormones, a high-fat diet, alcohol intake, obesity, and environmental factors such as tobacco use and radiation. However, studies of environmental and lifestyle factors only attribute a small increase in breast cancer to each factor.

No cause is known for 95% of breast cancer cases, while approximately 5% of new breast cancers are attributable to hereditary syndromes. There are some risk factors for breast cancer which cannot be changed, including:

Gender: Simply being a woman is the main risk factor for developing breast cancer. Because women have many more breast cells than men do and perhaps because their breast cells are constantly exposed to the growth-promoting effects of female hormones, breast cancer is much more common in women. Men can develop breast cancer, but this disease is about 100 times more common among women than men.

Aging: Your risk of developing breast cancer increases as you get older. About 18% of breast cancer diagnoses are among women in their 40's, while about 77% of women with breast cancer are older than 50 when they are diagnosed.

Genetic Risk Factors: Recent studies have shown that about 5% to 10% of breast cancer cases are hereditary as a result of gene changes (mutations). The most common gene changes are those of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. Normally, these genes help to prevent cancer by making proteins that keep cells from growing abnormally. However, if you have inherited changed gene from either parent, you are at increased risk for breast cancer.
